REVIEWS
"I wept at the end of the book for more than one reason. I was ready for the end of the series but I still want more. I loved this book the most because it pointed out the failure of resolution. It also pointed out that the north held their own prejudices. The most meaningful quote for me was when Jo reflected, ""...life is not about making an impact on the world as we know it, but on the lives of those you love. I wonder what impact I have made..."" This series is definitely the best I have ever read regarding the War Between the States. It was gripping, romantic, suspenseful and historical. A story well-woven. START with book one. You must! It will be worth it!" - C. Roberts, Amazon Reviewer

"From the very beginning to the end of the 4th book this was hard to put down. The characters and story line were we'll developed and held my interest throughout. I looked forward to the last book and was concerned I might forget some of the story but not to worry. You were able to tie it all together easily. I also loved the ending. Don't cry over many books but this one sure brought on the tears." - Amazon Reviewer

EXCERPT
“Cullen!” she cried.
He stood for a moment and stared at her. His eyes grieved. Understanding his hesitation, her eyes widened. “Oh, Cullen, tell me it is not so.”
He rushed toward her. Taking her by the elbow, he uttered, “Come. We will find privacy.”
Jo hurried beside him, her small steps barely in step with his. He did not slow until they reached the Battery.
Standing against the backdrop of the Charleston harbor, utter wretchedness assaulted her, physically weakened and mentally broken. Her nerves were shaken; she made no effort to conceal her feelings.
His eyes lit upon her. She could take no more. “Don’t leave me,” she pleaded. “I can take anything but the knowledge you don’t want me.”
He reached over and caressed her face. “It has nothing to do with my feelings toward you.”
“Papa…Papa wants me…to marry…Andrew,” she said, desperately trying to find her words. She clutched his hand. “I cannot…not when I love you.”
“Oh, my sweet magnolia, I wish things were different. Your father took a great effort to explain your situation. It is complicated. It tears at the ties that bind between honor and duty. If I gave in to my desires, I would sweep you up North.”
“Please, Cullen, I will go.”
He shook his head. “Our love would change. Over time, our passion will turn to resentment, then, God forbid, apathy. I could not live with that. It is best if what we had becomes a remembrance.”
A sudden anger surged through her. She pushed away from him. “Go then! I care not. You are no more than a coward. No better than anyone else in my life. Promises made, only to be broken. Hold on to your honor and duty and know I will give myself to another!”
For a breathless moment, the world stilled. The ocean waves pounded against the stone wall, spewing water all around them. She became oblivious of everything around her except Cullen.
Suddenly, she felt his hand around her waist. He drew her into his arms. He leaned down and kissed her. He deepened the kiss. She couldn’t think; she could only feel…
“I’ll be damned if another touches you,” he whispered against her lips. “I can’t fight this. I choose you, always you.”
ABOUT Jerri Hines
I'm a Southern gal that has lived the last thirty years near Boston with my Yankee husband. The funny thing is that as a Southerner I know I'm Southern; he hasn't a clue he's a Yankee. I believe in love and the power it holds. It is the reason I write romances. My fascination for history has inspired many of my books including the Winds of Betrayal and Tide of Charleston Series both set during the American Revolution. My Civil War saga, Southern Legacy, is my latest series. It is a serial made up of Belle of Charleston, Shadows of Magnolia, Born to Be Brothers and the dramatic conclusion, The Sun Rises.

REVIEW
"This is a story about what a couple of strong people who accommodate and bend to each other’s demands through love and profound respect can achieve. I’ve seen it in real life – but here someone has embodied it in fiction. Superb." - Gary Bonn, Author of Expect Civilian Casualties

EXCERPT
“I have something to tell you.” She smiled gently and put my hand to her waist. “ I am again with child.”
I drew my hand back. “With child? How long have you known?”
“I suspected it on the day of the hanging. I wasn’t certain, I’m still not certain, but with everyday it becomes more evident that it is true.
I sat upon the bed, overcome with a mix of emotion. The thought of a child warmed me and yet this warmth was tormented. We were at sea, heading for a land where we neither spoke the language nor well understood the customs. Lenora had already lost a pregnancy, and this was hardly a place for a woman with child.
Then something else occurred to me and anger was added to this mix of feeling. “You had thought to wait until now to tell me?”
Lenora stared at me as though I lashed her with a whip. She took her gown off of the floor and put it on, then crossing her arms over her breasts she tried for an explanation. “I have not seen a doctor.  I have not shared the news with anyone. You must know I would tell you first.”
“A fortnight has passed since the hanging. And yet you waited until now.”
“ I hadn’t found the right time to tell you.”
I got up and pulled on my breaches and stood over her. “ You carry my child and think the time must be right?” I pulled my shirt on and made ready to go.
“Anton, don’t be angry. I was—you were so busy, hiring a crew, preparing the ship.  I did not want to add to your burden.”
“A child is no burden. Surely you know that. And your concealing it is no small matter.” I left her then. Let her think hard and long on what she had done.

Support Wounded Warrior Charity with Her First Night by #MFRWauthor @LiviaQuinn

Her First Knight: Under-Cover Knights, the prequel
by Livia Quinn
Contemporary Military Romance
Campbell Hill Publishing

“Tucker, Tucker.”

Ridge is an inventor, ex-Ranger, a billionaire CEO on a mission for veterans. So with the big vote on his bill coming up, how had he wound up on stage beside two cover models, with a hundred women shouting, “take it off”? That’s the question his friends and family would be asking tomorrow, if they found out. That, and “Who’s Tucker?” He’d just have to make sure no one found out about his little side trip. It could turn into his worst nightmare.

It had seemed like a recipe for harmless fun. A curious CEO on the way to his room follows a gorgeous redhead onto the wrong floor. Add a hundred romance writers and readers attending a conference. Toss in some false assumptions, throw out a lifetime of good behavior and Ridge was up to his Special Forces tattoo in manure.

REVIEWS
""There is a part near the end of this book that brought me to tears...I was sobbing. This book is dedicated to veterans and it's just a beautiful scene. If you haven't read it you'll know which one it is, if you have.... well you know what scene I'm talking about."" Amazon

""I really enjoyed this book. The characters were wonderful and the story was great. Most of all, it brings up the troubles that vets are having getting help from the VA for their ptsd and other medical problems. My dad was a proud WW11 vet til the day he passed and he had many problems getting help from the VA. I hope all of you that read this find a way to give a helping hand to our wounded warriors."" Amazon

PROCEEDS DONATED to the Wounded Warriors Charity between November 5-15, 2015.

EXCERPT
"Whether congress votes yes or no, we will move forward.”
“I’ve heard about some of the problems veterans face but didn’t realize the extent of it,” Buffy said, refilling his coffee.
“The burden on the VA is growing, with so many veterans between the ages of nineteen and twenty-five. With the agency’s recent problems, horror stories abound of vets dying or starving while waiting on diagnosis, care, or treatment. Many of them travel great distances to the nearest VA and face an overwhelming stream of paperwork, in addition to financial hardships on their families. Others end up on the street due to mental disorders or lack of appropriate care. It’s unacceptable.
“There's a vast disparity between what the government promises and what it can actually provide in terms of medical services and after care. Our consortium partners will also deal with other issues—housing, education, family support, even file paperwork, and provide transportation.”
“I’ve been talking to Sally Freeman, you remember her?” Buffy asked.
“Yes. The author with the WWP fund.”
“Sally told me women are more than twice as likely to have PTSD. And I didn’t realize that the majority of amputees were in the Army.” Like Ridge’s brother. “It seems overwhelming.”
“There’s a lot of need.” Ridge got up and poured himself another cup of coffee. He seemed unsettled suddenly. Buffy suspected the discussion brought the circumstances with his brother closer. “My concentration has been on prosthetics in the past, but replacing a limb isn’t the worst thing that can happen. These are the days of true bionics, where the replacement can add flexibility and advantages the human limb couldn’t.”
He looked out onto the backyard. “Even more important is the diagnosis of mental disorders so soldiers can be treated and find value in life again, and share in the support of their families. It’s the minimum they deserve. These are proud men and women who don’t like to have to ask for handouts or even treatment that’s due them. I want to see that end.”

ABOUT Livia Quinn
Livia Quinn grew up near DC—go Redskins!—then moved to the bayous of Louisiana—go Saints! Yes, she’s a huge football fan. With a life long fascination, read that: phobia of storms, and with severe weather a part of life in Louisiana, it was only natural that it would play a big part in her world. Livia’s Storm Lake series encompasses paranormal on the West end of the lake in Destiny and military romance and contemporary to the East in Larue and Thunder Point. But there’s always magic because what would life be without a little magic?
