EXCERPT
“You love knowing I can’t escape, don’t you? That I’m all yours,” Frederica teased, tugging at the restraints that bound her wrists to the bed.
Gaston raised a brow to her. “And what if I do?” He asked, untying the ropes from her wrists. “You know how much it excites me to see you all bound and helpless. Don’t you like being my own personal little whore?” Mischief danced in his visible brown eye. The other hid behind a black patch, injured in battle.
She touched a finger to her lips and rolled her eyes in mock consideration.
Before she had a chance to answer his rather rhetorical question, he pounced on her. His weight upon her gave her a feeling of warmth and security she felt at no other time than lying under him.
“Liar,” he whispered into her ear, his mouth trailing down her neck. “Tell me how much you love it.” Then he proceeded to tickle her ribs which sent her into a gale of giggles.
“Must I resort to the gag again?” He waved a red kerchief in the air playfully.
Her laughter made it difficult to speak. “Yes, yes, I love it.” Her voice reached a high-pitched squeal.
He ceased the tickling and sensually covered her mouth with his hand. “You must remain quiet or I will be forced to quiet you.” With each word his mouth traveled lower on her body, accentuating every word with a kiss.
Gaston hated for her to be too loud during their lovemaking. He worried that if the crew heard them, it would cause trouble. It wasn’t exactly fair for the Captain to be the only man aboard with a woman to bed every night. It was unclear to her whether he was more worried the pirates would rape her or if he feared they would stage a mutiny of his leadership, or both. Either was a potential problem if the men grew irritable enough.
So she tried to be quiet, but it was difficult considering the way Gaston brought her to such heights of ecstasy. Though she’d been a virgin when they met, and therefore inexperienced, she had no doubt he had talents in the bedroom that exceeded those of most men.
All he had to do was look at her a certain way, and Frederica’s body responded to him. His kisses awakened a fire inside her that only he could douse. “I know how you can keep me quiet,” she breathed huskily.

EXCERPT
Pacing the small area like a confined animal, she finally paused to look out the window. The dreary day reflected her feelings, rain threatening at any moment. ""Do you know when my husband will be returning?""
""I am back now.""
John stood in the doorway handsomely dressed as befit the new Lord of Essex. Rowena's breath caught in her throat. She looked away before the immense pleasure she felt at his return showed on her face.
Joan quickly gathered her sewing and removed herself from the room, closing the door behind her.
""Will you attend me, my lady?""
Rowena went to him and helped him remove his surcoat before seeing to the heavier chainmail. He smelled like horses and leather. Manly. Rowena tried not to close her eyes as she drank in the intoxicating smell of him. Why would a dirty, sweaty man make her feel so light headed? She stepped away when she realized why, the chainmail slipping forward off his arms. His hooded eyes told her that he knew what she was feeling.
""Is there a problem?"" His deep voice seemed to reverberate through her body.
Quickly putting the heavy material down, she headed to the door. ""I will order a bath for you.""
""Wait.""
Rowena froze with her hand on the latch and heard him coming closer to her. He stood close behind her, his breath soft against her cheek.
""Yes?"" Be done with this. Her body yearned for his arms to pull her against him, to feel his kiss again. She licked her lips.
""Why are you leaving in such a hurry?"" His hand lightly touched the side of her head as he spoke, pushing her hair away from her face. He leaned in closer to her exposed ear. A responding shiver ran down her body. ""Are you afraid of me?""
She backed up to the door with a thud and faced him. Her pulse was racing as she lied. ""No, my lord. Methinks you have a rather strong odor about you and I would have you take a bath before the evening meal.""
John backed away quickly, his eyes flying open. ""I am sorry if I offend you. Please see to the bath.""
Rowena felt only slightly guilty when he turned away from her, standing like a lost little boy in the middle of the room.

If... Then... #MFRWorg Gets Down and Dirty with Author @Emerald_theGLD

Emerald is the pen name of Emily McCay, an erotic fiction author whose work has been featured in anthologies published by Cleis Press, Mischief, and Logical-Lust. She is an advocate for sexual freedom, reproductive rights, and the rights of sex workers, and she serves as a Facebook group moderator and assistant newsletter editor for Marketing for Romance Writers (MFRW). Her first single-author collection, If…Then: a collection of erotic romance stories, is out now from 1001 Nights Press. Find her online at http://www.TheGreenLightDistrict.org.

With no time to waste, MFRW gets down and dirty with Emerald...

Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?
Good question! Thus far, I have only worked in short form fiction, so my books are collections of short stories. If I ever complete a novel, it seems I’ll be better equipped to answer this! But the amount of time I take to complete a short story seems to vary greatly. In some cases, I’ve written a complete first draft in a few hours and then spent only a few days editing. In other cases, I’ve had a story in the works for years that just hasn’t seemed to draw to a close yet.

Do you have a set schedule for writing or do you just go with the flow?
Ideally, I would like to have a schedule, but historically, I seem to write when the urge strikes. I will say that, schedule or not, I have tended to write much more prolifically and effectively when I give myself permission to focus on <i>only</i> writing and not constantly feel as though I “should” be doing something else. The internal patterns of my psyche have historically seemed pretty distracting that way.

Tell us about your latest book, including its genre. Does it cross over to other genres?
While I’ve had about 30 short stories published in various multi-author anthologies, I am immensely thrilled that my first solo book, If… Then: a collection of erotic romance stories, was released in mid-September. It contains ten stories (eight previously published and two new) and would most fittingly be called contemporary erotic romance. A few stories contain LGBT and BDSM elements.

How do you come up with story ideas?
That seems such a common and understandable question, yet I have yet to figure out a simple answer for it. Things just come to me, it seems. Sexuality is a subject of fascination to me, so I’ve been known to see it in a lot of situations. When that’s happened, I’ve not infrequently made a story out of it!

What does your husband/wife think of your writing?
I have found my partner invariably supportive of my writing endeavors. I haven’t asked him to read all of it (generally, I’m loathe to ask people to read my work, especially when it’s unpolished, and I only tend to do so if I feel particularly stuck around something or in need of specific advice/feedback), but he has read some of it, and some of it he’s heard when he’s accompanied me to the various readings I’ve done. :)

Do you ever ask him/her for advice?
Yes. Especially when I’m writing from a male point of view. While I don’t at all buy into the idea that men and women have fundamentally different viewpoints from each other or that each respective group (male and female) is monolithic regarding perspective, I do like to check in with him to make sure the mechanics, if you will, all make sense!

Who, if anyone, has influenced your writing?
I have no doubt many people I don’t even realize have influenced my writing have done so. Probably, on some level, everyone with whom I’ve ever come in contact has influenced it. As far as those of whom I’m aware, the authors (of any genre) whose books, especially fiction books, have left me in awe have influenced me by inspiring me in an intangible and profound way to express as beautifully as I feel they have. That list would include, among numerous others, Victor Hugo (Les Miserables), Edith Wharton (The Age of Innocence), and Donna George Storey (Amorous Woman). I also feel that any author or book (in this case I refer more to nonfiction) that results in increased self-awareness and expanded consciousness in me allows me to write more effectively, as such things allow me (or anyone) to do virtually anything more effectively.

What can we expect from you in the future?
My second single-author collection, Safe: a collection of erotic stories, is due out in a matter of days. (!) I actually submitted Safe and what became If… Then as a single manuscript. My publisher recommend we split it into two volumes, an idea I initially resisted but have come to see was an excellent idea. If… Then is an erotic romance collection, while Safe is erotica. Erotica is my usual genre, though I’ve been known to write erotic romance as well. I’ll have a new short story included in the Best Erotic Romance 2015 anthology forthcoming from Cleis Press, and I recently finished a baseball-themed erotic novella for inclusion in a forthcoming Sweetmeats Press anthology on sex and sports.

How do we find out about you and your books?
I welcome anyone reading this to visit my website, The Green Light District, at http://TheGreenLightDistrict.org. There’s a section devoted to my publications that includes not only information about If… Then and Safe but also the various anthologies edited by others in which I have had stories published.

How can readers/fans contact you?
The upper-right corner of my BLOG (just under the header) shows a plethora of icons representing ways to do just that! :) Readers are welcome to email me at the address linked to there, and I am on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, and Goodreads and may be reached via my profile on any of them.

Favorite book?
My favorite novel ever falls into the “classic” category: The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. It feels difficult to me to articulate how I have felt affected by the reading of that book. The words “yearning,” “breathtaking,” “poignancy,” “gratitude,” and “inspiring” would likely all be jumbled in there were I to try.

MFRW Author Emerald recently released If... Then: a collection of erotic romance stories with 1001 Nights Press.

In these tales of sizzling erotic romance, deep affection and the warmth of familiarity underlie the erotic connection between longtime lovers. “The Plant on the Mantel” explores the unexpected implications of a generations-past affair on a young married couple. “Honey Changes Everything” finds Kim wondering how to lead her husband out of his state of despair upon losing his job; inspiration comes when breakfast in bed serves up more than just pancakes. And “If…” and “…Then” examine what happens when Valerie finds herself intensely attracted to someone other than her boyfriend—and what he does when he finds out.

With original stories (“Soft and Gray” and “Shattered Angels”) joining the eight previously published tales in this collection, If… Then is a testament to the scorching eroticism that can so seamlessly subsist with long-term romance. " In these ten tales of sizzling erotic romance, deep affection and the warmth of familiarity underlie the erotic connection between longtime lovers. #Christmas BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Cole in My Stocking @JessiGage #MFRWauthor

MFRW Author Jessi Gage presents Cole in My Stocking, a Contemporary Christmas
Romance.
Mandy never planned to return to Newburgh, NH, the hometown that unfairly branded her a slut, but when her father dies, she must spend Christmas settling his affairs. She hopes to get in and out of town without notice, but when she runs into a certain Oakley-wearing, Harley-riding cop, an old crush is revived and the rumor mill restarts with a vengeance.

Cole has always been attracted to Mandy, but he has never acted on it. Besides being years older than her, he was friends with her father. But when Mandy comes home fully adult and more gorgeous than ever, he can’t keep his distance, especially when an old secret of her father’s puts her in danger. He’ll stop at nothing to protect her, but convincing her to stay will take a Christmas miracle.

Mandy’s father is dead. But his secrets live on, putting her in danger. It’s a good thing she has a Harley-riding cop to help her face down her father’s enemies. But facing down her troubled past, even with Cole by her side, will take a Christmas miracle.

EXCERPT
He cupped her chin and made her look at him, even if they couldn’t see each other in the dark. “What did he do after?”
“What do you mean?”
“When you freaked out. What did your boyfriend do after that?”
Tension straightened her shoulders. “What any decent guy would do. We stopped. He stopped. He was a perfect gentleman.”
He scoffed.
“What? He was. I was a total spaz and he was cool about it.”
“He was cool about it?”
“What? What’s that superior tone for?” She was getting angry. He loved that about her. She’d stood up to Tooley a few days ago. She was standing up to him now. If she didn’t like something, she let you know about it. Now that was a characteristic he could believe she’d gotten from Gripper.
“You said you freaked like always when things get to a certain point, that you always blow it. You think you blew it with that guy because a single attempt at second base went poorly. I meant what happened afterwards? Was there a conversation? A second attempt after you had some time to process what happened? A third?”
“What guy would want to try again after something like that?”
“This guy would.”
ABOUT Jessi Gage
Jessi lives with her husband and children in the Seattle area. She’s a passionate reader of all genres of romance, especially anything involving the paranormal. Ghosts, demons, vampires, witches, weres, faeries...you name it, she’ll read it. As for writing, she's sticking to Highlanders and contemporaries with a paranormal twist (for now). BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Love Seeks No Boundaries @sourabhk85 #MFRWauthor

MFRW Author Sourabh Khanna released Love Seeks No Boundaries, a Mainstream Fictional Romance, with Notion Press.

What is so important in this world? Love or hate?

Of course, it’s “HATE”. We hate others because they are from different religion. If they are from same religion then we hate them because they are from different sub castes. That goes on and on.

There should be only one religion to follow in this world, that is, HUMANITY. But we have totally forgotten about humanity to live with. We just know about which religion we belong to or who are our relatives and with whom we have to gel up.

But this was not what god intended. God didn’t create those religions and castes. These were made by humans like us. These beliefs have been engrained in the natural way of our culture, passed down through generation to generation that we have no choice but to follow and worship.

Well, this is a story of two souls who fell in love with each other and then get into trap of blind society and mythical religions & caste systems and how they managed to remove the shackles and freed from any barriers as Love Seeks No Boundaries…

Generally, how long does it take to complete a book?
If the story idea has been stewing in my head for a bit, I can knock out a rough draft of a 30K story in about a week. Then comes the edits and revisions which can take another couple of weeks. All in all, about one month.

Do you have a schedule you work by?
I should have a schedule, but nothing's set in stone with me. It drives my family nuts. Typically (as I am NOT a morning person), I write when everyone's gone to bed. When deadline time approaches, I squeeze in writing time in every free moment I have. And, if I'm on a good roll, everything else in my life falls to the wayside while I type.

How do you come up with story ideas?
Everywhere and everything. I get a lot of ideas from songs. A song is basically a very short version of a longer story. Sometimes the refrain or idea of a song will spark something in me and I'll develop a whole tale around the words. Other times it can be something put out there, like a submission call. A publisher may say, ""we want stories that explore this idea."" I'll sleep on it, as the saying goes, and something good will spark and off I'll write.

What are your thoughts on love scenes?
Unless the romance novel is geared toward young adults, I think love scenes are very important to romance stories. I'm not one who is picky over before-marriage/after-marriage; I'm more interested in the developing relationship, period. I've read stories I've enjoyed where the love scenes were behind closed doors. The stories themselves were good, but I always felt it lacked something vital. It's not because I'm a voyeur, but because I believe strongly that intimacy can and does reveal a great deal about the characters and how the love story progresses. There is a vulnerability and openness to trust and deeper emotions during lovemaking. I want to see that part of the relationship. I want to read about how moved the heroine was that she cried and how the hero reacted to this emotion. I want to read about how the heroes dominance carries over in the intimate relationship. Is his heavy-handedness valid and can it make me believe how the heroine can fall so deeply in love with him? These kinds of things, IMO, can only be revealed through lovemaking.

What does your husband think about your writing?
I smile as I write this because it's mixed. Secretly, he's proud of me, but it's not something that he'll ever share. Most of the family in general has no idea what I write--or that I'm published--and he'd rather keep it that way. I mean, it's enough I write romance, but that I write erotic romance? Very few people I know would react kindly to this knowledge.

Do you ever ask him for advice?
Believe it or not, I do. Well, not advice per se, but I will talk about my stories with him as I'm developing them. He'll help me brainstorm and even give ideas if I'm feeling stuck. The other night, in fact, he helped me work through a wall I'd had in a new story I'm writing. He may not ever read my stories, but he knows enough about them to understand when I say, ""the alien one,"" or ""the pirate one.""

Tell us about your latest book
FEVER HITCH (EARTH CON) was created from my publisher's series idea. At it's basic form, we (the interested authors) had to create stories set in a comic book convention with aliens. This discussion started my mind to spinning and my result is FEVER HITCH. As far as genre, it's classified as sci-fi/paranormal romance at Changeling Press.

Felicia Walker loves her job as an illustrator at Fever Hitch Comics. During this year’s annual Earth Con, she will not only draw caricatures, but she’ll also be decked out in body paint to represent the F’ldae -- an alien species from the comics. As she starts off a night exploring the off-limits, alien side of the convention, Felicia is unprepared for the spiraling events that will make her behave like a true F’ldae… in full mating heat.

Agent Slate Reese, along with his best friend Agent Ryker Seals, are Metons who want to settle down, but they’re having a difficult time finding the female to complete their mating trio. With the vast assortment of alien species converging on this area, surely there’s one female who wouldn’t mind spending a night with both of them.

5 stars from Alberta (Manic Readers): ""I loved the characters, the premise, the word pictures, the sex and the excitement of the Con, just everything.""

4 Taps from Daria (We Love Kink): ""it was entertaining bit of sci-fi mixed with erotica. The characters as well as the story was fun.""

Ryker lifted the drink to his lips and took a long swig. “Ah, Tazar beer. Nothing else like it in the universe.”
“You aren’t shittin’ me,” Slate mumbled, sipping modestly of his drink. “Stuff tastes like crap. I don’t see how you stomach it.”
“Acquired taste, my man.”
Slate grunted and set his forearms on the table.
“Do you think we’ll get any hits?” he asked Ry.
Ry shrugged and watched various species interact on the dance floor. “It’s a big convention. We made our rounds, dropped our hints, left our contacts. Now we sit and wait.”
Slate rubbed his huge hands together. “Something feels off.”
“You ever been to a con before?”
Slate shook his head no.
“They always feel off, like the universe is tilted or something. I think it’s because of the huge intermix of species coupled with the fact that we’re in an alternate plane here. Remember, the humans have not accepted other species as a general rule, so our presence is still relatively unknown to the humans next door.”
Slate chuckled. “You’ve always been the analyzer.”
“It’s why you keep me as your partner.”
The men shared a brief chuckle, then Slate spoke up again.
“Remember that walkway over on the human side? It was near the booth for that comic book place.”
“You mean Fever Hitch -- they’re the ones sponsoring this whole thing. But yeah, I remember. Why?”
“Did you see the F’ldae onstage?”
“No. Really? They don’t go out much. That species is frightened of their own skin.”
“Exactly. So why am I seeing the same F’ldae on the dance floor?”
Ry whipped his head around to where Slate was boring a hole through a female. Yes, it was a F’ldae, and Ry couldn’t believe his eyes. The little female was snuggled up next to a Bulzant, and that overgrown plastic looking thing looked to almost swallow the female. She turned bright eyes up to it and said something that made the Bulzant quiver.
“Damn, I never knew that species could move like that,” Ry said, amazed.
“What? The F’ldae?”
“No, the Bulzant.”
“Does it look like she’s okay to you?”
“Who? The F’ldae? Yes. She’s jamming right along --“ Ry cut his words off as his eyes zeroed in on her.
“What?” Slate wanted to know.
Ry chuckled. “Looks like your timid little creature is in heat.”
“What do you mean?”
“Wait until she turns -- there. See the orange markings along her ribcage? When a F’ldae goes into heat, those markings show up.”
Ry shifted back to his drink and noticed Slate hadn’t taken his eyes off the female. Hmm…
On the human side, he’d noticed Slate staring at the walkway but hadn’t thought too much about it. It seemed that F’ldae had caught his eye. And seeing her move on the dance floor just a little bit ago had caught Ry’s eye.
A F’ldae. In heat.
They didn’t have to ask her to be their third in a permanent relationship, but maybe he could sweet talk her into being their third for the night.

Though Stone has resolved to resist the attraction between them, Lily can be just as stubborn. She vows to break through the battlements surrounding his heart. And like a Navy SEAL, she has a motto too. It is, simply: Never quit.

The Write And Long Of It with #MFRWauthor Kathryn Blake @KRBwrites

Kathryn R. Blake gives us the Write and Long Of It in today's interview.
We Asked. She Answered.

How long have you been writing - have you always wanted to be a writer?
I've been writing stories since elementary school, but I started out wanted to be an actress and was a Drama major in College.

How many books have you written, how many have been published?
I'd say I've written about fifteen books and six have currently been published.  A few may never see the light of day again, since I keep writing new books instead of going back to ones I've put aside for various reasons.

A Simple Misunderstanding is Kathryn R. Blake's fourth novel with Blushing Books, and third spanking romance where Domestic Discipline is primary to the plot.  Although Kathryn is new to the spanking romance market, she is not new to stories where the hero spanks the heroine.  In fact, most of her novels have some sort of spanking in them.  However, even in Kathryn's novels where the hero firmly believes in using spanking as a deterrent, he has no desire to cause the heroine injury and takes no delight in hurting the woman of his heart.

After you've written your book, and it's been published, do you ever buy it and/or read it?
I always purchase my own books, especially from my publisher, so I have a copy in every format they offer.  I own a Kindle, so I also go to Amazon and download the book on my device; however, I rarely read it again.  I've read each of my books at least twenty times before it is published, so I don't really need to read it again afterward.

List two authors we would find you reading when taking a break from your own writing.
Only two?  I have some that are automatic buys for me.  It's so hard to limit myself, since there are so many other authors I enjoy, but I'll list Cara Bristol and Maren Smith.

If I was a first time reader of your books, which one would you recommend I start with and why?
I'd like to think I improve with each additional book I write, so I'd say start with my last book, A Simple Misunderstanding.  It has a powerful theme of a woman caught in an abusive relationship in a community known for its tolerance with spanking relationships.  It's the 7th in the Corbin's Bend series, but if definitely stands alone.

Kathryn released A Simple Misunderstanding, an Erotica Novel with Blushing Books/Lazy Day Publishing
Spousal spankings in Corbin's Bend... She thought her husband was the man of her dreams, until he became the man of her nightmares. Elly Benson struggled to be the properly submissive wife her husband desired.  She tried to do everything he asked of her, until he convinced her she could never be the perfect woman he expected and demanded by nearly killing her. As a vet, Jerry Douglas recognized signs of abuse when he saw them.  Elly Benson, however, was a married and consenting adult who insisted all her bruises and welts were nothing more than a simple misunderstanding between her and her husband, until the day Arthur Benson took his authority and discipline one-step too far.

Which comes first, the story, the characters, or the setting?
That's hard, but I'd say the idea for the story comes first, then the characters that best fit the story I want to tell, and finally their setting.  However, they are almost simultaneous since the story requires certain characters and a setting.  Without them, I wouldn't have a story.

What is the hardest part of writing/the easiest for you?
Dialogue is the easiest.  The characters talk in my head, so their dialogue flows onto the page.  Narrative is more difficult since the picture is in my head like a movie, but I sometimes have difficulty putting what I'm seeing into words.

Are you in control of your characters, or do they control you?
I'm ultimately in control of them, but they are in control of their own lives.  In Arrested by Love, I had two secondary characters that started to take over the novel.  I couldn't allow that, so I cut them out and gave them their own book, which became A Dom's Dilemma.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?
Being able to tell the story that's taking place in my head.  As I kid I wrote scripts and had my friends act them out with me, so I've always been telling stories.  That's the fun part.  The creative part for me.  Editing is the professional part, and probably the most work I do on a manuscript.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Building Ties @TeresaReasor #MFRWauthor

MFRW Author Teresa Reasor recently released Building Ties, an Erotic Military Romantic Suspense.

Blurb
Navy SEAL Brett 'Cutter' Weaver is on a mission to Nicaragua when he learns his bride-to-be, Tess Kelly, has been injured in a car bombing. At Homeland Security’s demand, he’s rushed home on the next available transport and arrives to find Tess embroiled in three controversial stories. One may offer the key to her attacker.

On top of the emotional and physical upheaval of the bombing, Tess has been offered the journalistic opportunity of a lifetime at the Washington Post. If she accepts the job, she and Brett face living on opposite sides of the country. With their wedding two weeks away, she has temptations to face and tough decisions to make.

Serving as her security detail, Brett sees Tess’s remarkable investigative reporting skills in action, and acts as her sounding board and partner. He’s willing to sacrifice to ensure her happiness, but more, he wants to keep her safe. Because there’s a killer stalking her, and one interview at a time, they mean to catch him.

What Reviewers Are Saying...
Teresa Reasor kept me captivated with this edge-of-your-seat romantic suspense.

We met these characters in the previous SEAL Team Heartbreakers series and their original love story was developed in Breaking Through. Reasor has amped up their relationship by throwing Tess into serious danger just weeks before their wedding in this story.

She has also introduced us to Brett's new SEAL team, and several new hunky men that we hope she decides they need their own story.

As a military wife, I love that Reasor has brought to this story the realism that military men (and women) are moved from one place/company/team to another where they must make new bonds and prove themselves worthy.
Excerpt
The phone rang on the nightstand across the bed from him. She started to turn toward it.
“Let it ring,” he urged.
Obnoxious and persistent, it rang again. “It may be the police officers in the building. They’ve been calling to check on me.”
He released her with a sigh. Her movements stiff, she rolled away from him to reach for it.
Whoever was on the other end of that line was officially at the top of his shit list.
He stared at the slender length of her back. Two nickel-sized spots of dried blood stained her white T-shirt at shoulder blade level. Fuck. While he listened to her end of the conversation, he struggled with the emotions the sight had triggered. Concern for her hit him in the solar plexus, then rage overtook it. When guilt kicked in, he ground his teeth. He should have been here for her.
She hung up and rolled back to him. “That was a detective I’d contacted before my car blew up. He’s been waiting his turn to interview me. He’s on the way here.”
“Of course he is,” Brett said dryly.
Tess laughed, then snuggled up to him. “We’ll make up for lost time later.”
He brushed her temple with his lips. “After I’ve put something on your back, Tess. You’re bleeding and your shirt has stuck to it.”
She sighed. “It’s just a little road rash.”
Brett drew back so he could look into her face. He smoothed her hair from her cheek. “How many times have you pampered me through little nicks and bruises since we’ve been together?”
“Nicks and bruises? Nicks and bruises? Jesus, Brett. It was a bullet hole.”
The indignation in her expression, triggered the urge to laugh and he bit his bottom lip to suppress it. If he laughed, she’d punch him. “It wasn’t exactly my fault I got shot, honey. I didn’t know Moussa was up on the cliff with a sniper’s rifle while we were surfing. We didn’t even know he was in the country until then.” He jerked the conversation back to the point he wanted to make. “What I’m getting at is, I want to be there for you, like you were for me. Isn’t that part of being a couple? Being married people?”
Her expression cleared and softened, her sherry brown eyes misting. “We’re not married yet.”
“That doesn’t mean we can’t practice the together ‘in sickness and in health’ part.” He leaned forward and kissed her, because in that moment she looked so freaking beautiful he couldn’t not kiss her. “You don’t have to hide your injuries from me. It only makes me feel like more of an asshole for not being here for you when you needed me.”
She ran her fingertips up and down his forearm in a comforting caress. “You wouldn’t have been able to do anything if you had been here.”
“Maybe not, but I’m here now, and you might as well use me.”
“Use you?” One perfectly arched auburn brow went up.
He couldn’t suppress a grin this time. “For whatever you need, honey, but I was thinking a body guard, driver, and corpsman.” He wiggled his brows. “And your own personal love machine.”
Tess laughed. She ran the fingers of one hand over his close-cropped hair, moved in and kissed him. “I never laugh as much with anyone as I do you. But that is one of the cheesiest things I’ve ever heard you say.”
“What about your, ‘I’ve handled your weapon, and now I want to touch your gun’ comment?”
Tess chuckled. “As I remember, you were all for having me handle your gun.”
“Yeah. Want to do it again?”
She dropped her gaze to his chest and ran a fingertip down between his pectoral muscles to the thin line of hair that bisected his abs. His muscles clenched in response and his cock stood at attention.
“I’ll even oil it if you want me to,” she breathed. “But you’re going to have to wait until after Detective Buckler has his interview.”
“Do you sense a theme happening here?” Brett asked. “Later, later, later.”
Tess laughed.

Excerpt from INFAMOUS by Irene Preston
In the elevator, he fumbled for the room key that would allow them access to the suites on the top floors. His hands felt big and awkward as they swiped the key through the reader. If you stripped me naked on the hors d’oeuvres table. . . .Christ. She always had a way of knocking him off balance, of peeling away every last bit of self control. She had thrown the words out so casually, and as soon as she said them he had pictured doing just that—imagined shoving aside the crudités and shrimp cocktail and spreading her out like his own personal feast.
The doors closed and she was in his arms. He pushed her against the elevator wall, his tongue thrusting urgently into her mouth. She wound around him, humming incoherent words of encouragement. They weren’t nearly close enough. She tilted her head back, inviting his tongue deeper. He was drowning in the taste of her when he felt her hands slide down between them. His body jerked.
They were still in the elevator. He was damned if he was going to make love in a public elevator. He managed to wrest her hands away from him and anchored them above her head with one of his own.
“Not here.” Could she hear the desperation in his voice?

#MFRWorg gets DOWN AND DIRTY with @AuthorLyndaB #MFRWauthor

Welcome MFRW author Lynda Bailey. Tell us about yourself.
I’ve always loved stories, especially romances. For me the only thing better than reading a romance is writing one. That and drinking red wine while eating dark chocolate.

My romances are full of passion, with heat levels that range from hot to sizzling! I'm proud to have been a 2010 finalist in the prestigious Golden Heart®. Please join me for laughter and love, and where the good guys always win in the end.

I live in Reno with my husband of thirty+ years and our two pampered pooches.

Generally, how long does it take you to write a book?
That depends on the book's length. For a novella, it usually takes me a couple of months from start to finish once I start writing. Longer fiction obviously takes, well, longer... ;)

Do you have a schedule for writing?
Once I'm into a story, I write first thing in the morning, when all is quiet. I then try to get as many words on the page as possible during the day before my DH comes home at 5pm.

How did you come up with the story idea?
I was inspired years ago by Liliana Lovell (the original owner of the Coyote Ugly saloons) to write a cougar story based on a female bar owner and a younger bartender, but the story never really solidified in my head. Once I added the BDSM aspects, it took off... ;)

What are your thoughts on love scenes in romance novels?
For me, not have love scenes in a romance book is kinda like having cake without any icing. It's still good, but not as good as it could be... ;)

What does your husband think of your writing?
My honey is my biggest fan! I couldn't do any of this without his rock-solid support.

How can readers/fan contact you?
I love to hear from readers! They can drop me an email at Lynda@lyndabailey.net

Tell us about your latest book...
Shattered Trust is a contemporary BDSM erotic romance.

Kate Landry trusted the wrong man and paid dearly for her mistake. But she survived and raised her daughter alone. At forty-two, Kate has a good living as the owner of the Bluebird Saloon. But she’s forgotten how to live. That is until he comes into her bar…

Liam St. James loved a girl once. And only once. After an accident paralyzed her, she didn’t trust he’d continue to love her. Liam left and discovered a world where women did trust him—to be their Dominant. He’s a master – literally, but the request from the stoic bar owner will pose his greatest challenge yet…

Kate and Liam embark on a journey to uncover repressed urges and to discover new desires. They also fall in love. But when you’ve been shattered as badly as they have, loving is easy. Trusting is harder, especially when the heart is involved…

Learning to love is the easy part...
Excerpt
“You will pay me with your submission.” Liam tucked his index finger under Kate’s chin and lifted her gaze to his. “Whenever, wherever and however it pleases me.”
She closed her eyes and two twin teardrops leaked out. Her jaw trembled so hard, her teeth clicked. His Dom fairly danced with glee as blood swelled in his cock.
She licked her lips, leaving a shiny path he longed to follow. “What if I can’t…submit?”
He dropped his hand and took a big step back. “Then nothing. We go back to the way things were.”
She huddled tight to the wall, her body shaking and her breathing ragged. He worried she might hyperventilate again.
After a slow, silent count to twenty, and she still hadn’t moved, Liam hoisted the empty keg and turned to leave.
“I don’t want to feel this way anymore.”
Her hushed words stumbled his feet to a halt. Fuck.
“Can you fix me?”
He slammed his eyes shut. Goddamn it! He didn’t want to look at her. He wanted to just keep walking, out of the room and out of the Bluebird. Permanently. But that wasn’t going to happen. He glanced over his shoulder.
She still hugged the wall with her arms wound so tightly around her middle it was a wonder she could draw a breath. Her wide-eyed gaze snared him. Kept him rooted to the spot. She looked helpless, so fucking helpless, yet determination etched her mouth. She might be scared, terrified even, but she had grit. By God, she was beautiful.
He fortified his resolve. He wouldn’t allow himself to be wooed by her enticing vulnerability or her quiet courage. This dangerous plan needed to die—for both their sakes. He graced her with his wickedest grin. “When I’m done with you, you’ll be either fixed or broken completely.”

BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Zane's Choice by #MFRWauthor @MardiMaxwellRom

MFRW Author Mardi Maxwell released Zane's Choice (The Doms of Club Mystique 4),

Beautiful, curvy, Ravyn Templeton saw Zane Ramsey in a BDSM club in Houston three years ago. He’s haunted her dreams ever since.

Fate steps in and brings them together again. Zane has the power to save Ravyn but only if he loves her enough to fight for her.

What Reviewers Say...
The Book Fairy Reviews - 5 stars - This series just keeps getting better and better! Although I still love the dynamic between Addison and Cade(they are my fave's) I love how conflicted Zane is in this book. The Ramsey family just keeps growing adding more subs with each book, which means more women who really rule in the Ramsey Ranch... see the rest of the review at goodreads.

Beverly Ovalle - 5 stars - Okay, let me just say that I finished Zane's Choice and read it again! Once again Addison is matchmaking, trouble making, the view depends on who she has in her sights. Zane is torn by his job as ADA and Ravyn. Ravyn has secrets she can't afford to tell Zane. Bullied and blackmailed Ravyn does what she has to do, regardless of her feelings for Zane... see the rest of the review at goodreads.

Excerpt
A moment later, Zane Ramsey appeared. His black hair was mussed as if he’d shoved his hands through it a dozen times, and his black suit jacket was rumpled and hung open. His leaf-green eyes blazed with rage and she wanted to slip behind Thor or Mac, or even Ben for protection. Instead, she lifted her chin and dared him to do his worst. He took one step into the room before his eyes zeroed in on her.
“You can’t be here, Ravyn. This puts me in an impossible position.”
Ravyn rested a graceful hand on her hip. “Well, hello to you, too, lover.”
Zane cursed, then stalked toward her. Without pausing, he clenched his fist in the hair at her nape, then curved her into him until their noses were almost touching.
The heat from his body sent a shiver of arousal through her. “Let go, Zane.”
“You need to leave, Ravyn. Now.”
“No. I’m hiding from the press and everyone else who wants to put me behind bars—people like you.”
“Dammit, Ravyn. I told you I would protect you.”
“No, you didn’t. You said you would get me the best deal you could if I would turn state’s evidence.” She tried to move away, but he tightened his hand and pulled her head farther back while curving her pelvis against his. His erection pressed into her belly and she breathed a swift sigh of relief at the proof that he still wanted her.
“I told you from the beginning if you were guilty, I wouldn’t lie for you,” Zane said, the words gritted out between clenched teeth.
“Then you shouldn’t have fucked me.” Ravyn reached up and tried to pry his fingers from her hair. “Let go, Zane.”
“This time you’ve gone too far. Be still or I’ll beat your ass.”
“You can’t. You’re the one who set the limits of our relationship.” She gave up trying to pry his hand loose then lowered her voice. “You said fucking only. Nothing else.”
“Tell me the truth, then—tell me what you know and I’ll help you.”
“Nothing. I don’t know anything.”
“You lie to me and then you question why I won’t—” He pulled her head back until the tendons in her neck stood out. “Just don’t lie to me again. It really pisses me off.”
Ravyn glanced to her right and saw that everyone’s attention was focused on them. “Zane, let go. Everyone’s watching.”
“Don’t mind us,” Cade said. “You’d be surprised how often something like this happens around here lately.”
Zane shot a dirty look toward the room’s occupants, then focused on her again. “Everyone out.”
Cade picked Addison up, then settled in the chair behind his desk and smiled. Addison grinned at Zane, then snuggled into Cade, letting him know they were staying.
“We may have some information you might be interested in knowing, little brother.” Cade smoothed his hand down the length of Addison’s braid.
Ravyn glanced at the wall behind Cade’s desk and saw a large portrait of him and Addison. In it, Addison was over Cade’s shoulder. One of her hands grasped the waistband of his leather pants as she looked down at the camera with a huge smile on her beautiful face. Cade’s large hand nearly covered her entire bottom as he held her in place and looked over his shoulder at someone below them. The dark look of passion on their faces was mesmerizing.
That was the way she wanted to be loved. Passionately, as if her death would totally destroy the man who loved her.
About Mardi Maxwell
"I'm addicted to books. I love reading them and I love writing them. My earliest memories are of my oldest brother reading one chapter a night of The Wizard of Oz to me and my siblings. He had to read it because he was the only one who could read at the time! lol I've loved books ever since.

When I don't have my nose in a book or my laptop I'm spending time with my family and friends, gardening, cooking, traveling, swimming and daydreaming about my next hero."

Snow Angels by Sabrina York

A Scorching New Release from Sabrina York and a #Tiara #Giveaway

Snow Angels, the final book in the Decadent Calendar Men Series is here!

SNOW ANGELS by Sabrina York
Available December 1st from Decadent Publishing

The last thing Wade Masters wants on his month-long getaway to his sister’s wilderness cabin is company.  A wounded warrior, Wade is looking for complete isolation to deal with the tragedy of his life and his screaming guilt.

But company he gets, in the form of Lyssa Salk, a spunky, diminutive massage therapist. Who says she can talk to dead people.

Trapped together in the snowbound cabin, Wade and Lyssa have little else to do but help each other heal, spiritually, physically and sexually.

READ AN EXCERPT:

He probably stayed in the shower too long; the water was turning tepid. But Wade didn’t care. He stepped out and dried off, ruffling his hair with the fluffy towel. He tried to ignore the pink hearts. But it was either pink hearts or Hello Kitty.

He resolved, if he ever visited this cabin again, he would bring his own towels. Something manly.

Camo maybe.

A sharp series of barks brought his head up with a snap.

Bo.

Bo rarely barked, and then only at a threat.

Wade snapped into gear, wrapping the towel around his waist and stopping in the bedroom to grab his pistol. He’d seen bear tracks and scat on his run and though it was the middle of winter, he knew they could come out of hibernation. They’d been known to break into cabins if they smelled food.

His heart leapt into his throat at the thought of Bo facing a hungry five-hundred pound beast with no protection.

Towel flapping, he pounded down the short hall into the great room of the cabin, expecting the worst. He stopped in his tracks.

Yeah.

It was the worst.

Not a bear.

But an even greater predator.

There, pressed up against the door, cornered by his snarling protector, be-speckled with snow and clutching a mangy backpack, was a woman.

He could tell she was a woman, even though she wore about six coats, one on top of the other, and a knit hat pulled down over her ears. Long black hair escaped from the cap, trailing over her shoulders. But it was the eyes that gave her away, wide and round and fringed with thick lashes. And her chin. It was delicate, dimpled, quivering. Her lips were parted. Her exquisite face pale.

Bo glanced back at him as if crowing, look what I caught! And then edged forward with an ominous growl.

The girl clutched her backpack closer and issued a panicked little peep. She tried to press back into the door, making herself as tiny as she could, but there was no give.

Besides, she was tiny enough.

Like a woodland sprite.

He would have thought her a fairy come in from the woods if he’d had a hint of whimsy in him. And if she hadn’t been wearing everything she owned. He didn’t know much about fairies, but he was pretty sure they had some fashion sense.

Bo’s growl became a snarl, a snap, and the girl warbled a wail. “Please!” she cried. “Call him off!”

Wade snapped his fingers, fully expecting Bo to heel. He’d been methodically trained by a world-renown expert. He always behaved.

He did not.

His hackles rose and he took another menacing step toward the girl. A tear tracked down her cheek. Her entire body shook. “P-please!”

“Bo! Fuß!” The command to heel in the language he’d learned as a puppy, penetrated and Bo licked his muzzle, gave a canine whine and padded to Wade’s side. “Braver Hund.” Wade riffled the scruff of Bo’s beck and gave him a scratch. “Good dog.”

The girl collapsed against the door, but her attention did not waver from Bo, whose hackles were still up. Wade didn’t understand his dog’s reaction. He’d always been friendly to strangers before, more likely to whap them to death with his tail than to so much as growl. But then his gaze fell on the small cage at the girl’s feet and he froze. He could see a hint of the creature inside and he suddenly understood.

Hell.

She had a cat.

Perfect.

Not only was his solitude shattered by an unwanted female guest, a bedraggled homeless ragamuffin, she’d brought a cat.

Damn.

He hated cats.
