Maeven’s wings snapped open, and her sister-self roared out her joy. She gloried in the crack of her bones lengthening, thick and strong. They supported the width and breadth of the enormous bat-like extensions, propelling her with ease through the air. Her elegant muzzle glinted with razor-edged rows of teeth, and shining scales of gold and red covered her muscular body. Eyes slit in pleasure, she surrendered to the irresistible wild call of her shape-shifter nature.

She sped toward her cousins, also ecstatic in their full dragon forms, and joined them in sweeping and circling one another in teasing moves. Maeven caught an updraft and drifted. She sent silent thanks to the Council for their indulgence of her proposal to carry out her Fieri challenges on Earth. She was already having a grand adventure, despite everything.

Her sister-self, now soothed and languid, allowed her human mind to the fore again, along with more churning questions. Maeven understood why Nareen had put invisible protections into place all around this modern environment. There were multiple backup plans for rescue, should things get too messy—as in, humans finding out about dragons. The thought gave some ease to her worries; however, traces of guilt still remained.

She’d nearly done the unthinkable with Lisa. Orrie was right about Nareen yanking her home if she didn’t pull herself together.

She snorted. “I thought he’d send a male.”

My eye twitched. I’d been warned not to be offended by her ways and speech. Off-worlders from conservative planets like hers often had outmoded ideas. “I am female, but I assure you I am more than capable of protecting you while you conduct your business here.”

She raised an eyebrow but moved away from the doorway and spun into the room, her skirt billowing around her like a cloud. “Come in. I’m not quite ready.” Delegate Blackmun glided into the adjoining dressing room.

I hesitated but stepped over the threshold, the biometric scanner in the door confirming my identity even if the delegate had neglected to ask for it. I closed the suite door, my gaze sweeping the wide glass windows and ornately molded doors, checking entrances and weaknesses despite the fact that I knew this area well. This was my first solo assignment, but I’d been part of details around the hotel all my life.

Manually, I'm the most uncreative person you'll ever meet. I paint, and it's a blob. I sculpt and it implodes, but I do have a vivid imagination. Add in that I love words, and you see why I write.
I'm a sucker for true love and anything paranormal. A lot of the places in my books are drawn from things I've seen and done, but I've never yet met a werewolf.  On consideration, that’s probably a good thing.

My latest book is a new departure for me. Nothing paranormal and nothing supernatural, just two Doms with sex toys and a repressed heroine born to be wild. I wrote this one by accident.

I saw a special call on the Luminosity website for short stories on ""One night in a dungeon."" Sometimes lightning strikes and I know a story right off. Since it was a 1500 word limit, I wrote it in two weeks. Usually I take months.

I was so excited I hadn’t read the rest of the call -until it was time to submit.
OMG- M/M only. Mine didn't fit. I polished it up and added  some details I’d had to drop to make the word count. It came out even better this time around so I submitted it to Luminosity as a stand alone.

And guess what? They took it. The best serendipity ever.

The various activities spelled out on that questionnaire sent a hormone surge through her blood. That list of rules showed how well this hotel protected their guests’ privacy, but what sort of scenes went on in the dungeon that she might interrupt? Maybe a Dominatrix flogging a disobedient sub? Three tick boxes sat alongside each one. The instructions said to tick the things that were acceptable in the first column, soft limits in the second, and hard limits in the third. Since this form was for her eyes only, she grinned and worked her way down the list.

Asphyxiation was a definite hard limit, as were knife play, golden showers, and gags. A dildo or butt plug would be acceptable, but suspension? Maybe, with the right partner, she’d enjoy it.

“Oh, you’re here.” She blushed a bright shade of pink that blended well with the dab of paint. He longed to wipe it away, but contained his desire.

“I have a fresh canvas.” She removed the painting she’d been working on and pulled a white board from her stack. “It’s brand new, and—”
“What’s your name?” A burning desire to know ate at him.
She bit her lip.

EXCERPT“You’re scaring me.” Eleanor couldn’t keep her voice from trembling.
“You’ll think me the bearer of bad tidings, daughter,” he said. “But ‘tis for the best. You cannot marry Arthur. Not now. Not ever.”
The room tilted. Her empty stomach threatened to rebel. “Why? We’ve pledged our troth, which is akin to marriage.”
Lack of sympathy in her father’s light brown eyes brought tears to her own. “Arthur staunchly supported the old king, Henry. He has been attainted by the new king, Edward. That means—”
“It means he has lost his title.” Eleanor dropped onto a bench, glad for the stone wall to support her back. “His lands are forfeit. There’ll be nothing for any children to inherit.” She jumped to her feet in horror. “He could be executed.”
 “His life will be spared. But King Edward has given Arthur’s titles and estates to another,” her father said. “There’s a new earl of Glasmere.”
“This changes nothing.” Eleanor swallowed against the bitter taste in her mouth. Hope filled her. “Edward himself was attainted several years ago. If God’s anointed can rise so high from such a fall, surely Arthur can be made an earl again. We shall get the bill reversed.”
Her father pressed his lips together, as if biting back more bad news. “What will be is for the best.”
“I must go to him.”
He caught her arm. “Eleanor, stay. You’ll not marry Arthur today.”
“If not today, then soon.” No matter what her father said. Eleanor closed her eyes and imagined all was as she’d planned. She would make it so.
She lifted her chin, determined to behave as the lady she was raised to be. No one would see how the news of Arthur’s attainder or delay of their wedding affected her. “We must tell the guests the wedding has been postponed and send them away.”
“No. They shall remain,” her father replied. “Because you will marry today. You are bound by contract to wed the Earl of Glasmere. So you shall.”
She sucked in a breath. “I am betrothed to Arthur.”
“You were. King Edward asked the archbishop to annul your betrothal and procured a dispensation for the banns. You must wed the new earl instead.”

“You escaped. Perhaps I should put you in the dungeon.” Noeh’s voice was low and threatening. The resulting shiver that skated across her arms wasn’t from fear.
She wanted to pound her fists against his body. “I’ll just pick my way out of there, too.”
“Don’t bet on it.”
He stood. Against her will, her body responded to his intense stare. He headed straight for her, a wall of pure, masculine strength.
 She stilled as he approached. Without thought, she squeezed the wet rag in her hand. Water dripped onto the exam table. The stone was slightly concave, and the moisture ran into a small groove down the center.
He placed his palms on the surface of the table and leaned in. Up close and personal, he invaded her space as if he had every right.
“I don’t usually have trouble with disobedience, but you…” His eyes glowed, gold flecks mixing with the blue.
She met his glance and didn’t flinch. “I think you like the challenge.”
The skin around his eyes creased as a smile broke across his face. “You might be right about that.”
His actions were contradictory to who he was. As king, he needed to find himself a queen, a Stiyaha queen. Yet, here he was, alone with her.
He walked around the exam table and approached her from behind, closing the distance between them. “Nice, very nice.”
As she continued to scrub the table, his warm breath tickled her nape, sending shivers of desire down her spine. He placed his palm over the back of her hand. His large hand dwarfed hers, but his touch was gentle. Her skin lit up at the contact, and she gasped.
He chuckled. The sound reverberated through his chest and flowed deep into her heart. He moved their hands together over the surface of the wood, and they polished the table together.
“Like this?” he asked as he leaned over her back. The brush of their bodies burned like fire.
“Yes,” she whispered.

Tanvi glared at her friend. “Will you keep your voice down!”
In truth, Tanvi couldn’t understand why the man seemed so interested in her, particularly when she was sitting with Riya, who looked amazing in wide-legged, navy linen pants cinched tight at the waist and a white silk blouse.
She surreptitiously studied the man from under lowered lashes as she picked at the fruit on her plate. He was really attractive. He definitely took care of himself and she imagined he’d be using the hotel’s gym facilities on a daily basis. Even under his blue dress shirt she could see the definition in his arms and chest and, when he moved, his shirt strained slightly around his broad shoulders. When she’d looked directly at him on her way back from the breakfast buffet, she’d immediately noticed his blue eyes, piercing ice-blue, which were slightly intimidating. He had a scar dissecting his right cheek but, rather than marring what could have been considered a beautiful face it gave him a sexy and dangerous edge. She’d barely been able to contain her shudder of awareness as she’d walked by him. She took another quick peek across at him and decided that he swam a lot—his muscular shoulders and sun-streaked brown hair indicated that he spent time outside and in the water.
Tanvi glanced across at Riya, who was ogling the man blatantly. “Look at that hard jaw!” she whispered. “He just seems so…so masculine.”
Tanvi rolled her eyes. “You’ve been watching too many Hollywood movies.”
“Well, that man could have stepped directly out of a movie set where he’s the sexy, brooding hero,” Riya breathed with exaggerated awe. “He has alpha male written all over him.”
Tanvi laughed. “And what do you know about alpha males?”
“What don’t I know? You’re aware that I’m hardly a blushing maiden.” She smirked. “And I’ve read quite a bit of erotica and, you know, we have some good erotic authors here in India?”

Her short stories, articles, children’s stories, essays, and poems have appeared in anthologies, books, magazines, newspapers, and on the web.

I’m an insomniac which is very helpful when you’re a writer. Once I get an idea in my head, I work out the plot and dialogue at night when it’s quiet. I don’t use an outline, but I do write down specific dialogue or scenes that I want to use in the book. I come up with a very definite idea of what I want each major character in the book to look like, then I go through magazines till I find a model, actor, actress, etc. that looks like them. I pin those pictures up on the wall labeled with my characters names in front of my laptop. I also do short character sketches of each character’s appearance, education, employment, habits, family, behavior traits, etc.


Every day I that I work on a particular chapter, I start my day by going back to the beginning of that chapter and reading and rewriting it where necessary, for clarity, to tighten dialogue, to add needed description, etc. When I finish the chapter, I go back and reread and rewrite it yet again. Then I give it to my husband to read and edit. After he’s done I read it again incorporating his corrections and suggestions and put it aside until the entire book is done. Then we both reread the whole book again for continuity and to make sure that the story isn’t bogging down in places. You need another pair or eyes, another person to read your work and catch your mistakes: formatting mistakes, typos, misspellings, redundancies, inconsistencies in the plot, characters, descriptions, obvious factual mistakes in your stories, etc.

Really thrilled with pace of this trilogy. I left book 1 (Taken) dying to know what would happen next. Banished (book 2 in the series) does not disappoint! The book picks up in NYC where Connor sent Sylvie to protect her from the killer. Mia Frances introduces a number of slimy characters who could all easily be the killer. I am dying to know who the killer is and if my suspicions are correct. The relationship between Sylvie and Connor continues to intrigue me -- Sylvie seems to struggle with her position in Connor's bedroom and Connor is starting to struggle with putting her in that position. Cant wait to see where Book 3 ends up!

Once upon a moonlit night in late October in the Enchanted Forest where cursed beings are consigned until the spells that bind them are broken…

An autumn breeze ruffled the massive male wolf’s fur. Its thick pelt shone glossy under the moonrise that crested the treetops. In the midst of stalking a juicy rabbit, the predator froze. Catching a whiff of something far more interesting on a current of air, it lifted its nose and inhaled, hardly daring to hope. A delectable scent wafted into its sensitive nostrils.

A maiden was close by. In his wood. And the harvest moon above would wax full on All Hallow’s Eve tomorrow night! Fortune was spreading her shapely legs for him this night. At last…

Pricking his ears forward, the wolf padded in and out of the tree shadows, turning his proud head this way and that. His keen hearing detected the creaking, jangling sound of a moving carriage. It was rattling along on the north road, just before Troll’s Bridge! His blood raced when he realized his maiden would pass by the Hexed Waterfall and directly through the heart of his territory very soon.
She would never leave the boundary of his lands, vowed the wolf silently.

The approaching woman’s exciting scent grew stronger, further teasing and intoxicating his senses. All of the wolf’s considerable hunting instincts sprang to life. Anne Carrole has been writing stories since she was in elementary school but back then the hero was more likely to ride a bike not a horse and share a stick of gum rather than a kiss. Her muse usually comes wearing a cowboy hat. Raised on a farm with horses, dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and whatever other animals she could convince her parents to shelter, she’s married to her own sweet-talking hero and is the proud mother of a college-aged daughter. They all share their home with a sleek black cat with way too much attitude.

My story ideas often come from people in real life who inspire me. I have always been fascinated with the history of the American West and that led me to an interest in rodeo and ranching (I’m a farm girl, after all) which infuse the Hearts of Wyoming Series of which The Maverick Meets His Match is Book 2. There are only a few, very few, women who raise livestock for rodeos and Mandy was inspired by one of them, a woman who recently began to run her father’s well-known rodeo company. Intrigued I read a few articles about her, since she is somewhat of a phenomenon, and also read a book on the family’s business. That was all I needed for the imagination to saddle up.

As for why a romance? I love writing romance because you get to explore the characters—their past, their growth, how they change, and how they remain the same. In romance, the characters are the story so having interesting characters to explore is important. As both a reader and a writer, I want that Happily Ever After. At the end of a long day, I don’t want to read about someone else’s misery unless I know that at the end, it is going to be all right. In a world where so little seems in my control, I need to know it is going to come out right. I believe a good story is one where we want to empathize, sympathize, feel for what the character is going through.

One of my favorite book reviews received from a reader was this: “I have just finished reading Loving a Cowboy and I have to say they don't come any better than this! I laughed and I cried (happy tears).”  Reading that review I felt I had done my job. And what is better than the emotional whirlwind you are in when you are falling in love.

The descriptions were so evocative and visual that I felt like I was right there in the French ruler’s court. Thanks to the immediacy of the storytelling, I fell in love with the Sun King right along with Cecilia.

Although the love story (or should I say stories) turned out to be somewhat unorthodox and surprising, as a reader I rooted for the heroine all the way through to the end.

I tend to be a slow reader, but I finished the book in just a few sittings. The only book I ever finished faster was The Great Gatsby. I will definitely be looking for more stories by Ms. Kyle."

He moved closer. His perfection crept toward me with ease. His hands gripped my shoulders, guiding me to face the mirror once again. I met his gaze in the mirror as his reflection fell over me. His fingers traveled lightly across my bare skin. They found their way over my back and neck, into my hair. He bent down, lifting my curls to meet his nose. He deliberately inhaled my scent.

He found the last remaining hairpins at the crown of my head and released them. The locks tumbled around my face. Grabbing at the tresses, he rested them behind my shoulders. His fingers ran through them again.

“So dark and beautiful.” He spoke to no one in particular. I took the moment to spy upon him. He continued the luxurious combing, wrapping my curls around his skin. Brown tendrils of wispy hair framed his face, falling around his shoulders. The hair, so perfectly arranged at the dinner table, broke free. A few strands fell against his forehead, obscuring one of his azure eyes. A hand lifted from my lap momentarily, wanting to brush them back.
This is his time.

“You have interrupted my thoughts often since I saw you that first time. What it would feel like to touch you. How you would feel beneath me.”

A gasp left my mouth, my thoughts envisioning his words. His hands pulled my hair to the side, over my shoulder.

“Stand up, my treasure.”
I rose slowly from the chair. As I stepped to face him, his gaze wandered over my body again, looking down at me. “Do you know why you are here?”
I nodded before he demanded, “Tell me.”
I stammered. “I-I am here to please you.”
“Do you know how?” I hesitated, not quite sure what response would be appropriate. “It is all right. I will show you.” His hands found my waist before sneaking around to my back. He pulled me against him. The silk of our clothing swished together. His mouth opened. Hot breath washed over me. He licked his top lip. “Do you want me to show you?”

My ideas can come from any place or time, experience, even a song. One small thought can fuel an entire project. I have been writing since I was a kid, but seriously writing romance for over 10 years. A great deal of my personality and slices of life experiences are in the writing, however, my characters are their own people, with their own histories, personalities and goals.

Owning the Night (Hunting the Dark Lord #4) by Ann Jacobs is a quick erotic read. Ann Jacobs is able to pack so much detail in just a few paragraphs; it took just six chapters to delve into a world of cops, hunters, and vampires.

“Fuck.” The epithet slipped through Alex’s lips, a guttural cry that echoed against the heavy air that surrounded him. ""You’re certain?""

""Reynard landed right outside the gate to this deserted estate on Biscayne Bay and went inside. There’s only one way out, and I’ve been watching it. I swear he hasn’t gone anywhere unless he’s found a way to slip through stone walls. But since he’s been in Miami, three women have died. His work. I’m sure of it, though I don’t know how he gets in and out.""

Most vampires, Alex included, could move with stealth when circumstances demanded it. But Alex had been studying Louis Reynard since his pattern of serial killings began, and he’d never observed that the bastard could cloak his presence from fellow vampires—or that he could move through solid walls the way Alex and his clansmen could if they were sufficiently motivated. No. Reynard still lived to wreak havoc on mortal women. And to horrify and terrify Alina, his cousin and the d’Argent clan’s beloved queen. Alex concentrated hard, cut through the damp air with a satisfying whoosh and sped toward his destination with hardened resolve. 

This time he wouldn’t fail. Louis Reynard would die. And d’Argent honor would be restored.
