Meet Wendy
Wendy Lynn Clark is an award-winning author of romance, young adult, and science fiction. A lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, she graduated magna cum laude from Lewis & Clark College with a degree in philosophy and a minor in English, volunteered with AmeriCorps, taught English in Japan with the JET Programme for three years, and resided abroad in England and Greece. After completing a master’s degree at the University of Brighton, she returned to books and now works in an academic library. She loves learning about cultures, from how different families live in her local neighborhood to how astronauts live on the International Space Station. She is drawn to write about the needs that unite us all—survival, family, adventure, and love.
Wendy's Life as a Writer
No one is happier when I'm writing than my two cats.
One is a fat young calico who turned up pregnant on my front door last year - sounds like the start of a romance novel! - and one is a skinny old caliby (calico + tabby - it's a real word, I swear!) I adopted from a train station in Japan eleven years ago where she had been abandoned.
I draft story ideas in a notebook, but I "write" on a netbook on my couch. I have a big lap so usually the netbook leaves enough room for my old caliby to snuggle up. My fat young calico hasn't quite gotten comfortable enough to squish in, so she curls up next to us. Surrounded by purring cats, fuzzy throws, and a hot cup of sencha or Tetley's English tea, I finish a session of writing feeling like I've had a massage + float therapy + waking meditation.
