(A Maggie York Paranormal Mystery Book One)
Genre Paranormal/Suspense
Publisher  Etopia Press

Blurb
New Orleans' homicide cop Maggie York is at the top of her game until a sniper's bullet changes everything. She flatlines, comes back. But not quite the same. She sees and hears things...ghostly things.
Six months later the voices have faded but Maggie's still on medical leave from alleged PTSD. If only. Frustrated, she sets out to track down her shooter, but things get complicated...a ghost wants his own murder solved, and sexy homicide cop, Josh Brandt—her replacement—wants her to butt out of his case.

Unraveling her case draws them down twisted but intersecting paths…and Josh grows wary of how the attractive redhead is staying one step ahead of him. Despite mutual suspicions they continue to track the killer…knowing failure may cost Maggie her life.

Since my heroine Maggie York is haunted by ghosts of murder victims, it seemed fitting for her to help me compose a list of thirteen famous ghosts. Here's the group we chose, in no particular order.
1. The Hitchhiking Ghost is a very young girl who appears at the side of a dark road, claiming she's lost and needs a ride home. When rescuers arrive at her address, the girl in the backseat has vanished and occupants of the house report having a daughter who died years before.
2. The Ghost of Christmas Past (A Christmas Carole), a rather harsh dose of truth.
3. Man in Gray, an English aristocrat who haunts Drury Lane in London. Stay out of his way...he carries a sword.
4. King Hamlet is probably the best known of Shakespeare's many ghosts.
5. The Bell Witch (Kate Batts). In Ghost Walking, Maggie York's relatives warn her to avoid ghosts like this notorious, vengeful spirit haunting a Tennessee farm family since 1817.
6. (tied) Slimer, the green ghost from Ghostbusters movies; Casper, The Friendly Ghost from comic books and movies.
7. Anne Boleyn, whose headless spirit haunts the Tower of London where she was executed.
8. Bloody Mary is reputed to have murdered her own children. If you want to see her, repeat her name three times while standing in front of the mirror in a darkened bathroom.
9. Elvis, who hangs around Graceland reportedly hiding from his overzealous fans.
10. The Brown Lady was photographed in 1936 on the stairs of Raynham Hall, Norfolk, England. Lady Dorothy had been confined there by her brutal husband until her death.

And for the last three, we selected some of the White House ghosts, those former inhabitants who have refused to leave.

11. Abraham Lincoln has appeared so often since his death he has earned the title of The White House Ghost. Most reported sightings occur in the Lincoln Bedroom and the Yellow Oval Room.
12. Dolley Madison originally planted the Rose Garden. When attempts were made to change it, she appeared and protects it to this day.
13. Abigail Adams hung laundry in the East Room. Recent staff have reported smelling wet laundry and her scent of lavender.

13 favorite movies

Here’s my 13 favorite movies in no particular order. I hope this isn’t cheating, but some of my favorite movies are part of a series. It’s difficult to pick my favorite within the series because all contribute to the overall story, so technically I’ve listed more that 13. Please overlook this minor transgression committed in my enthusiasm for a great story or an adrenaline packed action adventure flick.

1.   Sahara

2.  Australia

3.  The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

4.  Under the Tuscan Sun

5.  Hidalgo

6.  The Bourne Series (loved them all)

7.  Secondhand Lions

8.  Lord of The Rings Trilogy (The Two Towers was probably my favorite)

9.  The Hunger Games Movies (all must be watched in order)

10. True Lies

11. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

12. Red and Red 2 (It’s a toss-up, both were great)

13. The Mission Impossible movies (all are filled with crazy action, which I love)

13 Fantastic Songs that Inspire My Writing
I love music, always have. Back in college, I earned two degrees in music (before I got a master's in library science) and I still love to sing and, of course, crank up the music while I'm writing. When I'm gearing up to write, you may find me dancing in my chair and singing along with my favorite songs. Some of them get me energized, some get me in the right mood for a particular scene, but all of them play a vital role in fueling my writing engine.

Even if I stopped writing (yeah right, that's gonna happen!), I'd still listen to these songs over and over, never tiring of them. I'll admit that, on occasion, I even put a song on repeat to hear it three or four times in a row. Here's my list of my 13 favorite songs, that also happen to inspire my writing.
"Love Runs Out" by OneRepublic. The energy and driving beat of this song can get my brain in gear faster than just about any other song.
"Sweeter" by Gavin DeGraw. Ditto for this one. More energy with a driving beat, plus fun lyrics that get me singing along every single time.
"No More Rain" by Kylie Minogue. This song is a bit mellower, but still energizing. I feel good every time I listen to this one!
"Turntable" by Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. This sexy song has clever lyrics I love, plus it's a great tune to listen to while writing a hot-and-heavy love scene.
"Underestimated" by Jennifer Paige. The ultimate break-up song from a woman who's not taking any guff. Plus, its energy and infectious chorus wake me up whenever I'm suffering from the just-woke-up blues.
"Only One" by Katharine McPhee. I loved this song the first time I heard it and find myself listening to it just about every day. The song reminds me of my heroine Mel, from Tempted by a Kiss, who might've posed the same challenge to her cheating ex.
"Like Sugar" by Matchbox Twenty. I love Rob Thomas's music, whether he's flying solo or with the band. I often turn this song up while writing a first kiss scene.
"State of Grace" by Taylor Swift. A sweet, romantic song about finding real love and how it's never easy.
"Mr. Mysterious" by Vanessa Amorosi. Most Americans have likely never heard of Vanessa Amorosi, but I love her music. Hazardous is her best album ever and this song from it provided a spark of inspiration for my story Tempted by a Kiss.
"Everything" by Lifehouse. I've adored this song since I first heard it on the TV series Smallville. This may be the most romantic song ever; definitely in the top 10!
"Walking on Mars" by Kelly Sweet. Her second album is even better than her first, and I wish it had gotten released in this country. This song epitomizes the concept of being yourself no matter what other people think. Like most of my fictional heroines, I'm a bit strange, so I can relate.
"You Set Fire to My Life" by Tina Arena. Another singer most Americans haven't heard of, this Australian artist continues to produce terrific albums. This song, from her latest album Reset, works great as inspiration for those final scenes where hero and heroine come back together, forever this time.
"Rumour Has It" by Adele. Not only is this song written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, but it's sung by the incomparable Adele. 'Nuff said.
