BOOK SPOTLIGHT: Dancing on the Dark Side @MairinFF #MFRWauthor

MFRW Author Máirín Fisher-Fleming spotlights her book Dancing on the Dark Side, a paranormal romance with MuseItUp.
Spirited college senior Bliss is preparing to make her mark in the world of contemporary dance. She’s thrilled to be training at the prestigious Windhaven College of the Arts in Salem, Massachusetts. But things get weird the moment she sets foot on the campus. Her new roommate, Rowan, is a mind-reading, storm-calling descendent of the Sidhe, the Fae of Ireland, with a secret agenda.
Ciarán, the charming TA for her performance class, is the most brilliant dancer she’s ever seen. Too bad he hides from the sun and has a taste for human blood.
Bliss should have run screaming in terror, but Rowan’s magic has woken memories of a past life she cannot deny. The more she learns of Ciarán’s tragic past and the family of Sidhe he protects, the more she realizes she is a part of their world and her new ‘normal’ is anything but.
Enter the Order, ancient enemy of everything supernatural. To protect Bliss and the Sidhe, Ciarán draws her into the very heart of his magical world. Soon, instead of dancing together, they are fighting a bitter battle to prevent disaster from tearing them apart again. This time forever.

REVIEW
“Dancing on the Dark Side” is set in contemporary Salem, Massachusetts, where an unfaithful fiancé and a skanky roommate send Bliss in search of a new beginning. Miraculously, a place opens up at Windhaven, with both a scholarship and a TA position. Totally unheard of for a transfer student, but she knows better than to question her luck.

The populace at Windhaven is a bit different. A sexy barista flees the shop after she places her order, but reappears in her dance class. Her roommate, Rowan, always seems to know exactly what to say. More than a few females are resentful of her smooth slide into the TA job. Then there’s the feeling that somehow everything seems familiar, a sort of Déjà Vu…only not in this lifetime.

“Dancing on the Dark Side” seamlessly combines magic, vampires, legends and past lives in a believable, intriguing read. This fast-paced novel features lush imagery, realistic dialogue, and shows as opposed to tells. Bliss is a likable college student whose twin goals include being the best dancer she can be and getting away from a sucky situation. Even though her attraction to barista Ciarán is immediate, her realization that they knew each other in another lifetime is slower in coming, which gives it an authentic feel. Ciaran is a strong character, wrestling both with his love for Bliss and who she was in another life, and how that life ended because of him.

Máirín Fisher-Fleming draws together fae, folklore, hot dancers, and college-life conflicts into this year’s must-read novel!

EXCERPT
“Bliss? Would you like to start over?” he asked again, sounding patient in a strained way.

“Should I start before or after I accused you of being a vampire?” She edged a little closer to the end of the bench and set her feet firmly into the turf, ready to run.

“Since you raised the issue, let’s go with that. I’m a vampire. Satisfied?”

She stared at him; how was a person supposed to respond to a statement like that? An icy lump formed in the pit of her stomach. His tone was suddenly much harder. And entirely serious. Laughter edged with hysteria burst from her lips. He didn’t move. There was no possible way it could actually be true. Just couldn’t! But even as she watched he changed. It was subtle, easy to overlook if someone wasn’t completely focused on him, but it was real. The eyes darkened until even the whites vanished, like the eyes of some rare and beautiful beast. And between his slightly parted lips, the points of inhumanly sharp canines gleamed.

“Holy shit!” She cringed and pulled away, promptly falling off the bench. Bliss scrambled back to her feet. While Ciarán, the most beautiful dancer she had ever known, watched an air of remote indifference.

#PNR Book Spotlight: Dark Velvet @LisaCBooks by #MFRWauthor Lisa Carlisle

MFRW author Lisa Carlisle released Dark Velvet, an Erotic Paranormal New Adult Romance.

When grad student Savannah Evans is accepted to a prestigious art colony, she’s thrilled. When else would she be able to hone her poetry--writing craft in a medieval-style castle? More than that, the remote New England island provides a respite from her hectic city life. But her benefactor, a mysterious French sculptor, throws her expectations of carefree days writing near the ocean out the window. Soon, she becomes consumed by unprofessional fantasies about her mysterious sponsor.
Antoine Chevalier built Les Beaux Arts on DeRoche Island to bring purpose back to an existence that had long ago lost meaning. He’s wandered the earth for decades, and still, his only solace is his art.

When Savannah applies for a residency, something about her words touches him. After her arrival, a physical attraction grows between them, one he must fight against. She deserves more than someone of his kind.

Despite his misgivings, Antoine proposes they become lovers during her stay. But the situation turns complicated when Savannah discovers his secret. She had suspicions about his identity, but the truth is even more overwhelming. Consumed by her desire for Antoine and faced with a tough decision, Savannah is soon at the mercy of the newest danger to arrive at DeRoche Island.

EXCERPT
Several times over the course of the evening, Savannah caught Antoine’s dark eyes watching her. Her emotions roiled in confusion while the performers played Barber’s Adagio for Strings. The way he held her gaze without blinking made her squirm in the burgundy armchair. The rising tension and resolution from the violin and cello underscored her tumultuous emotions.
She smiled at him briefly and focused on the musicians, aware of how her heartbeat had escalated. When she glanced again at Antoine, he still watched her unabashed, as if unconcerned about what the others would think. He took a sip of Porto, nodded her way, and then returned his attention to the musicians. She sat up straighter and crossed her legs at the ankles, then uncrossed them, and crossed them again.
The attraction was becoming more difficult to ignore. In light of how he breached the physical distance by touching her so earlier, she feared she’d be unable to keep her desires hidden much longer. She’d developed an instant crush since she arrived at the castle three months before. How could she not be—he was a renowned sculptor with a devastating, dark appeal. What was she to him than just another young resident who would be gone in three months, replaced by another.
Was she reading more into the brief exchange than was warranted?
It’s just a look. Only a casual glance her way. Even as she attempted to fool herself, she knew she was full of shit.

#MFRWauthor Book Spotlight: Unbidden Dragon by Louisa Kelley

Unbidden Dragon
by Louisa Kelley

Maeven’s bold request to leave the dragon’s secret sanctuary has been granted. She’s been sent to Portland, Oregon, on a mission of vital importance to the survival of her shape-shifting species. Mayhem, magic and sensual adventure abounds as Maeven struggles to follow the rules. Rule number one: Keep her true nature hidden. Rule number two: No emotional involvement with humans. Then she meets sexy, devious, adorable Frankie, who tells a wild story about accidentally shape-shifting – into a dragon! Ah. So much for the rules. Maeven’s journey of self-discovery brings her sizzling forbidden love, deeper understanding of her own sexuality and the courage to fulfill her destiny.
EXCERPT
Maeven’s wings snapped open, and her sister-self roared out her joy. She gloried in the crack of her bones lengthening, thick and strong. They supported the width and breadth of the enormous bat-like extensions, propelling her with ease through the air. Her elegant muzzle glinted with razor-edged rows of teeth, and shining scales of gold and red covered her muscular body. Eyes slit in pleasure, she surrendered to the irresistible wild call of her shape-shifter nature.

She sped toward her cousins, also ecstatic in their full dragon forms, and joined them in sweeping and circling one another in teasing moves. They owned the sky—winged monsters in play, dancing the ancient aerial dance. The males’ swift, muscular speed taunted her to keep up, yet she followed a split second behind as they dived to the icy waters of a hidden mountain lake. Caen burst to the sky with a captured fish and tossed it to Orrie, who caught the creature in his massive jaws and, with a snap of his head, sent it sailing toward Maeven.

She swallowed the delicious fish, grinned her toothy appreciation at the men, and then aimed back to the clouds. A sense of total safety filled her being with the comforting knowledge they flew in their magically protected sanctuary. Three hundred miles in the more than two million acres of Mount Hood National Forest belonged only to them, secret and hidden from all human senses. A great gift from Nareen when she allowed a select few to venture back to Earth society. The threat of drones and missiles and horrors of modern warfare kept them all very cautious. The need for secrecy was paramount.

Maeven caught an updraft and drifted. She sent silent thanks to the Council for their indulgence of her proposal to carry out her Fieri challenges on Earth. She was already having a grand adventure, despite everything.

Her sister-self, now soothed and languid, allowed her human mind to the fore again, along with more churning questions. Maeven understood why Nareen had put invisible protections into place all around this modern environment. There were multiple backup plans for rescue, should things get too messy—as in, humans finding out about dragons. The thought gave some ease to her worries; however, traces of guilt still remained.

She’d nearly done the unthinkable with Lisa. Orrie was right about Nareen yanking her home if she didn’t pull herself together.

ABOUT Louisa Kelley
Romance and science fiction took firm hold of Louisa Kelley’s imagination at age nine, when she read the books Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, and the Narnia series, by C.S. Lewis. She is convinced that the genre paranormal romance, which developed years later, came into existence purely for her benefit. After all, it’s what’s been in her heart all these years.

She resides in Portland, Oregon where, in a strangely perfect combination of rainy winters and urban skyline, her writing inspiration abounds. Meet the sexy world that’s been evolving in her fevered brain…She’d love you to join her in some over-the-top erotic adventures with the Draca; dragon shape-shifters of a very different kind.

Book Spotlight: Unforgettable Lover #PNR by #MFRWauthor Rosalie Redd

Unforgettable Lover
by MFRW Author Rosalie Redd

The Betram ritual is a sexual rite for all unbonded Stiyaha of age. For Leonna, Betram offers a night free of her destiny to manage the family honey cart. Drawn to a formidable male whose tenderness burrows into her soul, she discovers his identity and loses her heart to a male she can never have.

Prince Nicholai must participate in the Betram ritual despite his fear of getting close to anyone. The intensity of his hunger for a certain honeyed female takes him by surprise, but as much as he longs to forget her, he can’t, for she’s unforgettable.

EXCERPT
There she was. The female he’d commissioned to paint his portrait. She brushed a stroke of paint over her canvas, the movement sensual, beautiful. That she used her damaged hand was remarkable. Her thumb and index finger grasped the brush with ease. Mesmerized, he could gaze upon her face for not just hours, but days on end. As he walked past the other artists in the room, none caught his attention, not like this female.
Nicholai’s body responded as if he knew her, as if she was the one he’d been with during the Betram ritual. But she was not. As a qithan female, she wouldn’t have been allowed to participate. Then, why did he respond to her this way? He ground his teeth. The last time they’d talked, he’d failed to get her name. He would rectify that immediately.
Her back to him, she didn’t appear to notice his approach. He gazed upon her fine, blond hair. The stands fell down her back. The tips graced the top of her rounded behind. He had a sudden urge to get close, introduce himself by showing her what she did to him. That was inappropriate, but his beast liked the idea.
Not wanting to startle her, he stepped past her so that he’d be in her line of sight. She jumped anyway, and a drop of red paint from her brush landed on her cheek. The bright spot made her all the more delectable. She didn’t seem to notice.
Her eyes widened.
“Oh, you’re here.” She blushed a bright shade of pink that blended well with the dab of paint. He longed to wipe it away, but contained his desire.
“Yes, as promised.” He couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lip. She brought that out in him. The smile overtook him and turned into a full grin.
If possible, her cheeks colored even darker shade of pink, and his chest expanded from the warmth she exuded.
“I have a fresh canvas.” She removed the painting she’d been working on and pulled a white board from her stack. “It’s brand new, and—”
“What’s your name?” A burning desire to know ate at him.
She bit her lip.
A warmth spread into his groin. He wanted to nibble her lip as well.
“Leonna.”
“Leonna.” The way her name rolled around on his tongue was like a gentle caress. So, he said her name again. “Leonna. What a beautiful name. I am Nicholai.”
“I know.” She stiffened. “I mean…I recognize you, Nicholai…you’re the prince. Everyone knows who you are.”

REVIEW - Marisa Slusarcyk – Hide the Matches
Wayward Soul was an amazing read that literally had me glued to it from the first page. It is a stand-alone sequel to Desert Son, meaning that while it is a continuation, you don't need to read Desert Son in order to feel like you have the whole picture. This story is amazing as it deals with love, life, loss, murder, psycho's, reincarnation and OBE (out of body experiences) as well as out of body travel. Sounds like a lot but Maynard has done a wonderful job of explaining things enough to give you goosebumps while not bogging you down with more than the story needs. Not a single boring sentence in this book which is ridiculously hard to come by! If you have ever had vivid dreams and woke up only to think about how real it felt then this book is for you. Without spoiling it, I will say that the twist at the end is enough to raise goosebumps and leave you longing for more.
EXCERPT
When Carter and Brenda ran to the front door, they saw Angie lying in the middle of the street like a limp ragdoll. Brenda put her hands on top of her head and screamed. Carter ran past her and out into the street to Angie’s body, and Brenda soon appeared by
his side. She grabbed Angie’s wrist and checked for a pulse.
“Nothing!” she screamed.
“Maybe you’ll have better luck.” She jumped up to get out of his way, waving her hand
quickly so that Carter would hurry.
“I’ve never done this before,” Carter said. “I’ve never had to. I don’t know what to look for!”
Carter watched as Brenda bolted to the next house, pounding on the door to get help. The smell of brakes permeated the air.
“Call 911,” she demanded as the door opened. “There’s been an accident and we need an ambulance right away!”
Carter’s world slowed to a crawl as society’s noise followed suit. Slow motion ensued as Carter watched Angie’s spirit drift skyward, looking down on Carter, who could only watch her life slipping away on a thin string. There was nothing that he could do, but he was familiar with this territory. Up and away she drifted.
Carter noticed that the movement was intermittent, as if there was something pulling her from a direct and impactful ascent from what seemed to be an untimely death.
Carter looked up at Angie and felt a connection. It seemed to
him that he had a similar flight path, and could relate to her. He
knew that she took with her a message that he and Brenda so
desperately needed. That look on her face had twisted even her
wrinkles. She had been holding their hands and must have sensed
something terrible. Was it a message for them? Why did she only look at
Brenda when she went into convulsions? Do they now have to live life
looking over their shoulders?
Brenda returned to Carter, who was kneeling next to the body
of Angie and intently peering up at her spirit. “What’s going on
here, Carter? What do you see?”
Carter did not answer right away, but he did hear Brenda. He was mesmerized, yet blown away that he could see Angie, trapped in an out-of-body experience. He believed that because he had lived through an out-of-body experience himself, he could now
become part of others.
