Sample A Taste of Tragedy on #Thursday13 with #MFRWauthor Kim McMahill

Kim McMahill grew up in Wyoming, which is where she developed her sense of adventure and love of the outdoors. She started out writing non-fiction, but her passion for exotic world travel, outrageous adventures, stories of survival, and happily-ever-after endings soon drew her into a world of romantic suspense. Along with writing adventure novels Kim has also published over eighty travel and geographic articles, and contributed to a travel anthology and cookbook. Kim currently resides in Colorado, and when not writing, she enjoys gardening, traveling, hiking, and spending time with family.

13 favorite movies

Here’s my 13 favorite movies in no particular order. I hope this isn’t cheating, but some of my favorite movies are part of a series. It’s difficult to pick my favorite within the series because all contribute to the overall story, so technically I’ve listed more that 13. Please overlook this minor transgression committed in my enthusiasm for a great story or an adrenaline packed action adventure flick.

1.   Sahara

2.  Australia

3.  The Secret Life of Walter Mitty

4.  Under the Tuscan Sun

5.  Hidalgo

6.  The Bourne Series (loved them all)

7.  Secondhand Lions

8.  Lord of The Rings Trilogy (The Two Towers was probably my favorite)

9.  The Hunger Games Movies (all must be watched in order)

10. True Lies

11. National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

12. Red and Red 2 (It’s a toss-up, both were great)

13. The Mission Impossible movies (all are filled with crazy action, which I love)

Her poetry, fiction, art and essays have appeared in more than fifty literary journals. She has a poetry chapbook award and a Pushcart Prize nomination, and an MFA in fiction.  13 Ways You Know You’re a Child of the Seventies:

You know far-out had nothing to do with distance.
You could macrame your own swimsuit.
You painted lower eyelashes a la Twiggy
You were mesmerized watching a lava lamp.
You burned your bra.
You know what TV show “You bet your sweet bippy” came from.
You danced on a lighted dance floor under a disco ball.
You remember when a Tab was a soft drink.
You remember when “rubbers” were sold behind the pharmacy counter.
You tripped on your bell bottoms.
You were traumatized by a black light poster of sexual positions.
You know getting down meant you were in the groove.
You thought push-button phones were super fast.

On #Thursday13 #MFRWauthor Helen B. Henderson tells us about Hatchling's Mate

A former feature-story writer and correspondent, #MFRWauthor Helen Henderson has also written fiction as long as she could remember. Her heritage reflects the contrasts of her Gemini sign. She is a descendent of a coal-miner's daughter and an aviation flight engineer. This dichotomy shows in her writing which crosses genres from historical adventures and westerns to science fiction and fantasy. In the world of romantic fantasy, she is the author of two series: the Dragshi Chronicles and the Windmaster novels.

                            Hatchling's Mate
Genre: Fantasy
Publisher: High Eyrie Publications

 Blurb
From their birth, it was expected that the only two children born to the dragon shifters would marry. Unlike his female counterpart, no dragons sang a welcome at Talann’s birth. Now years later, even though Lexii’s dragon twin had awakened, there was still no sign of Talann’s.

Haldric hated all shifters but one—the Lady Lexii Beylnea. He had one tool to achieve both his goals, to destroy all dragshi and to have Lexii for his own. His uncle, known to his followers as the Parant, possessed the ability to turn men and women into his willing slaves. Or Haldric vowed, Lexii to his will.

Pledged to protect Lexii until the dragon lord’s intended mate appears, Glyn must fight to keep hidden the secret no one could never learn and fears the price when the betrayal is revealed.

Love and desire, honor and duty clash in this action-filled novel in the world of the dragshi.
